Vintage Mexican Tooled leather Handbag lovers Dancing Mayan Calendar

Cream and black handbag. Made as souvenirs for visitors to Mexico, these are actually really nice examples of leatherwork from the local artisans, with a deeply embossed Mayan calendar flanked by native plants on one side, and a husband and wife, courting couple, friends or partners enjoying a dance or each other. Even the base is finished with a basketweave design, and a little Mayan figure (flawed)adorns the closure (tarnished). This bag is either from the 60’s or 70’s. Shows wear consistent with its age. Desperately Needs cleaned or repainted maybe? I keep going back and forth if I am going to keep this or not. Looks to have so much history and is a lovely detailed bag. Zoom in on pictures.
